Kia looks to the future with new features and tech added to its 2019 sedan and SUV lineups

At Rick Case Kia Sunrise, we're always eager to talk about the latest Kia models, and it seems the perfect time to do so given that 2019 is officially upon us. Our 2019 portfolio of Kia sedans and SUVs always has compelling options, but with key improvements, expanded feature availability, and some forward-thinking new technology features coming to the lineup this model year, it's not an exaggeration to say there's never been a better time to consider a new Kia. And if you find yourself shopping for a new car in the New Year, we'd love to invite you down to our showroom to check out what the 2019 Kia lineup has in store for you!

From available amenities to newly standard safety features, the 2019 Kia sedan portfolio offers more value than ever before

One of the best things about shopping for a sedan with Kia is the fact that there are so many options to choose from. And with the updates coming to the 2019 lineup, there's a lot more to recommend these already popular Kia sedans these days.

But first, let's start with some tried-and-true models and check out some of the subtle updates to Kia sedans aren't changing drastically in 2019.

  • The subcompact 2019 Kia Rio gets an available new Tech package that features LED headlights and forward collision avoidance technology, as well as an available SIRIUS® satellite radio package.
  • The full-size 2019 Kia Cadenza gets standard Blind Spot Collision Warning with Rear Cross Traffic Collision Warning on its Premium trim, as well as upscale touches like a panoramic sunroof, 19-inch wheels, a premium Harman/Kardon sound system, and more as part of its available Technology Package.
  • Having only recently made its official debut, the 2019 Kia Stinger sport sedan expands its standard features with 18-inch machined finish wheels, Blind Spot Collision Warning and Rear Cross Traffic Collision Warning. On top of that, you can net yourself LED headlights, an 8-inch touchscreen with navigation, a Harman/Kardon premium sound system, and a sunroof if you spring for the new Sun and Sound Package. And if that weren't enough, the Premium and GT1 trims now come with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, wireless phone charging, and ventilated front seating, the GT trim now features a limited slip differential for rear wheel drive models, and the GT2 trim gets a surround view monitor and heated rear seats.

However, while expanded feature availability on these models is a real treat, the stuff we're really excited about comes with models like the new 2019 Kia Forte and 2019 Kia Optima.

  • The 2019 Kia Forte sees a full redesign this model year, giving it a much more athletic look that harkens to that of the Kia Stinger. Both longer and wider than the outgoing model, the new 2019 Kia Forte has a much more confident stance, a more spacious and comfortable interior, as well as an elongated hood and sculpted elements that give it a more muscular aesthetic.
  • Outfitted with an updated engine and a new Intelligent Variable Transmission, the 2019 Kia Forte improves its efficiency quite a bit this year, allowing it to achieve up to an EPA-estimated 31 mpg city / 41 mpg highway, making it a great car for daily commuters and college students on the go.
  • Even though the 2019 Kia Forte is a compact car, it comes packed with great tech like standard Kia Drive Wise safety technologies and an 8-inch Kia UVO infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
  • On the other hand, the 2019 Kia Optima doesn't see a full redesign this year, but it does get a mild refresh with some enticing options. For example, if you go for the 2019 Kia Optima SX 2.0T, you'll have the option to outfit it with some luxe European-style leather seating, making this spacious and inviting midsize sedan the perfect ride for a fun night on the town.
  • Even if you don't choose any options, safety-conscious drivers will love the fact that the 2019 Kia Optima comes with a broader array of standard Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, such as Lane Departure Warning, Lane Keep Assist, and Driver Attention Warning which are ideal for folks who love taking longer road trips.

Take to the road with gusto this year with one of our new 2019 Kia SUVs

Perennially popular for families, adventurous drivers, and of course, those who love a bit of "retail therapy" in their downtime, our new 2019 Kia SUVs receive much the same treatment as their sedan counterparts this year. That is to say, they receive upgrades to tech, styling, and even safety features that put them on a pedestal above many of their competitors…at least in our humble opinion.

Now, as with the sedans, we'd like to start in with models that don't see to many changes this model year, namely the 2019 Kia Soul and 2019 Kia Sportage.

  • The 2019 Kia Soul may not technically be an SUV, but we're going to talk about it here anyway. It now comes with a standard rearview camera, automatic headlights, and even a newly available Inferno Red color option to make this distinctive car all the more appealing.
  • The 2019 Kia Sportage also received some significant updates in recent years, so the changes this year are much milder. Its LX Popular Package now includes an upgraded 7-inch Kia UVO3 infotainment system with Android Auto and automatic climate control, while its SX 2.0T trim gets a new electronic parking brake with auto hold functionality. And if you're the type that loves a few extra accents to compliment your car's exterior styling, don’t hesitate to go for the EX 2.4L trim, which now features Piano Black High gloss trim and exterior mirror turn signals in addition to functional tech like Blind Spot Detection and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

Of course, the big stories this year are coming out of the 2019 Kia Sorento and 2019 Kia Niro.

  • The 2019 Kia Niro brings a whole new perspective to the market this year with the debut of its Kia Niro EV variant. This compact electric crossover boasts a stunning all-electric range of up to 239 miles, making it one of the few electric cars you could actually take on a road trip. Plus with a futuristic take on the Kia Tiger Nose grille that actually houses its charge port and high-tech holographic door trim available, the 2019 Kia Niro EV is undoubtedly a car for eco-conscious drivers who love to stay on the cutting edge of style.
  • On the flip side, if you're looking for the ideal family SUV, you need look no further than the bold new 2019 Kia Sorento. With three-rows of seating for up to seven passengers now standard on all trims, the 2019 Kia Sorento is roomy, inviting, and perfect for those times when it's your turn to take your kids' softball team out for ice cream after practice.
  • But the 2019 Kia Sorento isn't just a people mover; it's also got some pretty sophisticated elements. With updated styling on its front and rear end design, the 2019 Kia Sorento never looks out of place, whether it's on a trip to the mall or an evening date night out to see a play. Plus with its newly available 8-speed automatic transmission and available Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, the 2019 Kia Sorento boasts a level of drivability that many SUVs of its size lack, all while helping you to mitigate distractions and obstacles that would otherwise take away from you enjoying your experience behind the wheel.
  • Do you often find that you need to drive your little ones around the block a few times to soothe them to sleep in the evenings? Well, not only does the 2019 Kia Sorento feature a supremely quiet cabin and smooth ride quality, it also now comes available with a new 10-speaker Harman/Kardon sound system with QuantumLogic™ surround sound technology that's perfect for your children's favorite lullabies. Oh and with easily accessible LATCH anchors, putting in and taking out car seats is a breeze to boot!
